Do you remember this series!? What catches your spying-eye radar!?
“LA Law” lasted 8 seasons, originally airing 09/15/1986 to 05/19/1994. After a Monday night 2-hour TV movie premiere & floundering on Fridays at 10/9p, this series inherited the coveted 10/9p Thursday night slot from the outgoing fan-favorite “Hill Street Blues”. Created by Steven Bochco & Terry Louise Fisher, this series showcased many of Bochco’s trademarks: ensemble cast, parallel story lines, social drama, off-the-wall humor. Set in the fictional Los Angeles CA-based law firm McKenzie, Brackman, Chaney & Kuzak, the exterior scenes for the firm’s offices were shot at LA’s Citigroup Center, known as the 444 Flower Building at the time. Along with other running gags, the opening credits always started with a car trunk being slammed shut, revealing the California “LA LAW” license plate. Originally, the car was a Jaguar, but was replaced with a Bentley in the final season. The cast included Richard Dysart, Alan Rachins, Corbin Bernsen, Jill Eikenberry, Michael Tucker, Susan Ruttan, Harry Hamlin, Susan Dey, Jimmy Smits, Michele Greene, Blair Underwood, Larry Drake, Sheila Kelly, John Spencer, Cecil Hoffman, Amanda Donohoe, Michael Cumpsty, Conchata Ferrell, A Martinez, Lisa Zane, Alan Rosenberg, Debi Mazar & Alexandra Powers. Guest stars include Cynthia Harris, Carmen Argenziano, Michael Fairman, Bruce Kirby, Lauren Lane & Courtney Thorne-Smith. This series was also well-known for featuring relatively unknown actors & actresses who later went onto greater success: Don Cheadle, Jeffrey Tambor, Kathy Bates, David Schwimmer, Kevin Spacey, William H Macy, Stephen Root, Christian Slater & Lucy Liu.
