From the ad: “For the 2nd year in a row, specially prepared & modified Javelins beat all the other hot cars in the Trans American Racing Series & we feel like celebrating.” This 1-year special edition option came at the tail end of the car’s original run, 1967-1974. Some have described this generation Javelin as styling of the Mustang, Camaro & Challenger … combined. For the 1973 model year, AMC expanded its comprehensive “Buyer Protection” extended warranty to include food & lodging expenses up to $150 should a car require overnight repairs when more than 100 miles away from home. This paid off in terms of sales profits reaching a record high.
