REQUESTS:
Please advise if…
…you are a member of a singing group or band & would like to be featured
…you would like me to feature a favorite song of yours not played on the radio
Ending today by listening to “Climb Every Mountain” & “Sweet Carolina” sung by the Summer Harmony Male Chorus of Lehigh Valley PA (the 1st feature of 2016!), while checking under the hood of a Plymouth Barracuda, photographed by OC,SHer CHRIS L S at the 2015 Ocean Gate Car Show….
OC,SHer DAVE R was a singing member of this group for the 1st 25 seasons & ended his tenure after their August 2015 concert. He was at the organization’s 1st meeting along with his Dad, & Dave later served on the board & maintained the website, which features photos, highlights & history of the group. Over the years, the group has been as large as 95 members of men who love to sing & has performed the National Anthem many times, including at Baltimore MD’s Camden Yards.
#1 “Climb Every Mountain”
This song is a show tune from the 1959 Rodgers & Hammerstein musical “The Sound Of Music” & has been recorded by many artists since its debut.
#2 “Sweet Caroline”
Written & originally recorded by Neil Diamond, the song was originally released 09/16/1969 & reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. It has become a “cult classic” since, currently played at various sporting events, such as Boston Red Sox home games (at Fenway Park), the University Of Pittsburgh PA’s football home games, the Iowa State University football & basketball games, & after Caroline Panthers home victories.
