Remember this series!? What catches your spying-eye radar!?
“The A-Team” was created by Stephen J Cannell (“Hunter”, etc.) & Frank Lupo, originally airing 01/23/1983 – 03/08/1987. Not generally expected to become a hit, it did, thanks in part to its 1st regular episode airing after Super Bowl XVII, 01/30/1983. The series is about a fictitious former United States Army Special Forces unit who escaped from military prison, court-martialed for a crime they didn’t commit. The show’s name is from the nickname coined for the United States Special Forces’ Operational Detachments Alpha (ODA) during the Vietnam War. This series stars George Peppard, Dick Benedict, Dwight Schultz & Mr. T. Notable guest stars include Dean Stockwell (“Quantum Leap”), Wendy Fulton, Boy George, Isaac Hayes (“The Rockford Files”), Hulk Hogan, Rick James, David McCallum, Joe Namath, William “The Refrigerator” Perry, Markie Post, Pat Sajak, Vanna White, Della Reese & Steven Keats. The “car star” is a black & metallic gray 1983 GMC Vandura van with a characteristic red stripe, black & red turbine mag wheels & a rooftop spoiler. However, utilizing many different vans to fill the role, continuity errors are seen: the angle of the spoiler, some with sunroofs & some without, & even other makes used (Ford Econoline). The opening theme was composed by Mike Post & Pete Carpenter.
