‘Used Cars’ was written by Robert Zemeckis & Bob Gale with original music composed by Patrick Williams. The film features Kurt Russell, Jack Warden (dual role), Gerrit Graham, Frank McRae, Deborah Harmon, Joe Flaherty, David L Lander, Michael McKean, Michael Talbott, Harry Northup, Alfonso Arau, Cheryl Rixon, Al Lewis, Woodrow Parfrey, Dub Taylor, Betty Thomas & Dick Miller. Released 07/11/1980 to mainly positive critics, it was not a box office hit, though it has become a cult classic. The movie was filmed primarily in Mesa AZ, utilizing the in-business (at the time) Darner Chrysler Plymouth dealership as “Roy L Fuchs Pre-Owned Automobiles” & an empty lot across the street as “New Deal Used Cars”. The vacant lot is now an apartment complex. During filming, Russell produced some commercials for Darner’s, inviting customers to shop while the crew was there.
