NEW TIME!

With the “CD Showcase Memories” theme eliminated (at least temporarily), songs are now featured in this theme & in “Wednesday Wrap” (9p US central). To jump start this feature, 2 of the 6 songs in the 1st 6-pack of my 11/06/1993 college radio show; CLICK HERE to see all 6. My sister was visiting for Brother-Sister weekend, & I asked her to choose the 1st 6 songs to be played….

#1 “After All This Time” | Rodney Crowell
This was the 3rd tune of the 1st 6-pack that evening. This song debuted 02/25/1989, spent 21 weeks on the country charts & claimed #1; it also won the Song Of The Year Grammy. For Crowell, this was his 4th straight chart topper, preceded by 1988’s “It’s Such A Small World” (with Rosanne Cash), 1988’s “I Couldn’t Leave You If I Tried” & 1988-9’s “She’s Crazy For Leavin’”. The #1 streak remained alive for 1 more song: 1989’s “Above & Beyond”. Prior to this 5-song streak, none of his original 8 releases reached the Top 25.

#2 “Endless Summer Nights” | Richard Marx
This was the 6th tune of the 1st 6-pack that evening. This song, which Marx wrote (inspired by a trip to Hawaii), was released 01/05/1988 as the 3rd single from his self-titled debut album. It peaked at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 2 weeks (behind Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror”) & #2 on the Adult Contemporary charts. Internationally, the song notched at #13 in Sweden, #19 in Australia, #42 in New Zealand & #50 in England.
