Tomorrow (Monday) starts another school week. Last week, my cousin & OC,SHer JENNIFER S M posted a status for all drivers to see; a reminder: we ALL need to pay attention while driving. Most school bus drivers are multi-tasking: driving, keeping an eye on the kids on board, & watching out for YOU, fellow roadway drivers! It’d be a big help if you payed attention to school buses; your driving skills could also help keep kids safe.
She wrote, in part: “Had an 18 wheeler pulling a tanker truck (full of gas, I think, because of what the logo said) in a panic today because there was no possible way he could have gotten stopped in time for my reds. I saw what was going to happen, sat with my yellows flashing for a good 30 seconds instead of turning on my reds, & waved him on. He is lucky that A- I realized he was going to fast to stop, & B- that I always try to ‘help’ truckers when I can. I saw him again later, pulled over at a gas station. Not sure if he was making a delivery, or trying to get his pulse back to normal & his hands to stop shaking.”

Thanks, Cort!! I’ve been given the finger, seen people deliberately speed up instead of stopping, and lost count of the people who are so unaware of what is going on around them that they don’t even SEE a BIG YELLOW BUS with flashing RED lights. It is a bit scary, to think we can be so self-absorbed in our own little worlds… instead of focused on driving. And please~ put down your cell phone.
