THEME = recreation: featuring Baillie & The Boys & Patsy Cline
2 songs from the 10:30p-11:30p timeframe of my 04/20/2007 radio show….
#1
This song debuted 10/01/1988, spent 27 weeks on the charts & peaked at #5 in early 1989. It was their 1st Top 5 tune in the band’s brief late 1980s to early 1990s career. The trio originally featured Kathie Baillie, Michael Bonagura & Alan LeBoeuf (who portrayed Paul McCartney in the Broadway musical ‘Beatlemania’). From early 1987 to early 1991, the band released 10 songs, 7 of which reached the Top 10, including 3 Top 5 entries with no chart toppers. My favorite of theirs is 1987-8’s “Wilder Days” (#9).
#2
Anyone NOT know this song?! Hitting the airwaves 04/03/1961, this single spent 39 weeks on the country charts, 2 of those at #1; it crossed over & reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also won the Hall Of Fame Grammy Award. For the Gore VA-native, this song was 1 of 2 chart toppers in her brief career, shortened by her death in a 03/05/1963 plane crash in Camden TN; the other was 1962’s “She’s Got You” (5 weeks). Other familiar favorites: 1957’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” (#2, 2 weeks), 1961-2’s “Crazy” (#2, 2 weeks) & 1963’s “Sweet Dreams” (#5).
