CD SHOWCASE MEMORIES

THEME = recreation: featuring Collin Raye & Chicago

2 songs from the 9:30p-10:30p timeframe of my 04/20/2007 radio show….

#1
This song debuted 11/25/1995, spent 22 weeks on the country charts & peaked at #21 in early 1996. I’m not sure why it didn’t fare better; it is a great song with a powerful message. This DeQueen AR-native singer-songwriter-guitarist had a great 10+ year career, jump-started with his 2nd release, 1991-2’s “Love, Me”, which claimed #1 for 3 weeks in early 1992. Overall, of ~35 releases mid 1991 to late 2001, he notched 4 chart toppers & 17 additional Top 10 tunes, 14 of which entered the Top 5.

#2
Written by Peter Cetera & David Foster for the group Chicago, this song was released 09/13/1982 as the 2nd single from the band’s 1982 album ‘Chicago 16’. This single reached #22 on the Billboard Hot 100 & #8 on the Adult Contemporary charts. The band formed in 1967 in their namesake city & has become 1 of the longest-running & most successful rock groups, 2nd only to The Beach Boys in terms of Billboard singles & albums chart success. The group’s prominence rose in the 1970s & 1980s with ballads like this hit, a change from the band’s politically-charged, experimental start.
