Have you seen this movie!? What catches your spying-eye radar!?
‘Rebel Without A Cause’ was released to theaters 10/27/1955 to critical acclaim. Filmed in CinemaScope, the movie was directed by Nicholas Ray & was adopted from Robert M Lindner’s 1944 book ‘Rebel Without A Cause: The Hypnoanalysis Of A Criminal Psychopath’, though the movie does not reference the book. This groundbreaking attempt at portraying the moral decay of America’s youth (sound familiar?) also explored the differences & conflicts between generations. The film’s Dawson High School is actually Santa Monica CA High School, & the 1949 Mercury is part of the permanent collection at the National Automobile Museum (Reno NV). The cast includes James Dean, Natalie Wood, Sal Mineo, Jim Backus, Ann Doran, Corey Allen, William Hopper, Rochelle Hudson, Edward Platt, Frank Mazzola & Dennis Hopper.
