CD SHOWCASE MEMORIES

THEME = recreation: featuring Rosanne Cash & Paula Abdul

2 songs from the 7p-8p timeframe of my 04/06/2007 radio show….

#1
This song (which I have on vinyl!) debuted 08/13/1988, spent 23 weeks on the charts & claimed #1. It was this Memphis TN-native singer-songwriter’s 10th chart topper. While her career started in late 1979, her 1st big hit was 1981’s “7 Year Ache”, which reached the top spot of the country charts & #22 on the Billboard Hot 100. Her last #1 came in 1989 & was followed by 4 more releases before her career ended in early 1991. She also notched 5 additional Top 10 tunes.

#2
Released 11/22/1988 as the 3rd single from her debut album ‘Forever Your Girl’, this song’s popularity gained momentum when San Francisco CA’s KMEL abandoned “The Way That You Love Me” (the 2nd single released from the album) & focused on playing this song. This single claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1989 while also reaching #3 on the Dance Club Songs & #2 on the R&B charts. Internationally, it claimed #1 in Canada & Norway while notching in the Top 10 of 8 other charts.
