CD SHOWCASE MEMORIES

THEME = recreation: featuring The Kendalls & Freddy Fender

2 songs from the 9p-9:30p timeframe of my 04/28/2006 radio show….

#1
This father-daughter duo from St Louis MO features Royce & Jeannie Kendall. This song debuted 08/06/1977 & spent 20 weeks on the country charts, 4 of those at #1; it crossed over & reached #69 on the Billboard Hot 100. Additionally, it won the CMA Single Of The Year award & won the pair the Country Vocal Duo Grammy. This is my favorite release of theirs, with 1984’s “Thank God For The Radio” my 2nd favorite of theirs.

#2
This San Benito TX-native singer-songwriter-guitarist made a huge splash into the music scene with this song, his very 1st release. Debuting 01/11/1975, this song spent 17 weeks on the country charts, 2 of those at #1; it crossed over & also claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It also won the CMA Single Of The Year award. His follow-up release, 1975’s “Wasted Days & Wasted Nights” matched the success of his debut single on the country charts, but only reached #8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
