However, Melissa Manchester’s version, released in 1982 from her album ‘Hey Ricky’, put the song on the map, reaching #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 & earning Manchester the 1982 Best Female Pop Vocal Performance Grammy Award, over Laura Branigan, Juice Newton, Olivia Newton-John & Linda Ronstadt.
