‘Cannonball Run 2’ arrived in theaters 06/29/1984 & immediately received harsher reviews than the original. Giving it .5 out of 4 stars, Roger Ebert declared it to be 1 “of the laziest insults to the intelligence of moviegoers that I can remember. Sheer arrogance made this picture.” That, despite an all-star cast: Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Jamie Farr, Ricardo Montalban, Telly Savalas, Marilu Henner, Shirley MacLaine, Susan Anton, Catherine Bach, Foster Brooks, Sid Caesar, Louis Nye, Jackie Chan, Richard Kiel, Tim Conway, Don Knotts, Mel Tillis, Tony Danza, Jack Elam, Charles Nelson Reilly, Michael V Gazzo, Alex Rocco, Henry Silva, Abe Vigoda, Jim Nabors, Molly Picon, Frank Sinatra, Joe Theismann, Shawn Weatherly, Dale Ishimoto, Arte Johnson, Fred Dryer, Chris Lemmon, George Lindsey, Doug McClure, Jilly Rizzo, Dub Taylor & Hal Needham.

  1. I don’t give a care as to what “professional” movie reviewer give a movie. I care about what I like and don’t like. It was a fun movie so who cares what Roger Ebert said. LOL

Did YOU see it Cort and if so, did you enjoy it?

ps: That came out one year before I got married. I had no idea that the movie was that old. Thanks for the memories!

  2. HA … seems we think alike, at least in terms of professional movie reviewers. Never quite understood why we have them in the 1st place. I know many critically-acclaimed movies & TV shows which didn’t fair well in ratings … & vice versa. Sadly, I have not seen this movie, but you are welcome for the memories!
