This is 1 of those songs that could easily be a country classic. Written in 1983 by Doug James & Michael Bolton, this song was 1st performed by Lisa Hartman on TV’s “Knots Landing”. Laura Branigan then had a #12 Billboard Hot 100 hit (#1 Adult Contemporary chart) with the song in 1983. Bolton’s version was released October 1989 from his album ‘Soul Provider’ & claimed #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 & Adult Contemporary charts in early 1990. Elsewhere, this song reached the Top 10 in Australia (#2), Belgium (#1), Netherlands (#3), New Zealand (#10, Sweden (#9) & England (#3).

This Aiken SC-native singer-songwriter-guitarist survived a motorcycle crash in 1981 & brain surgery in 1994. This song debuted 07/27/1996, spent 20 weeks on the charts & peaked at #10. His 1990s career (mid 1993 to late 1999) featured 20 releases, 7 of which were Top 10s, with 1 chart topper, 1994’s “Your Love Amazes Me”. 5 years earlier, the Oak Ridge Boys version of this song had peaked at #70 (1991).
