THEME = recreation: featuring Steven Curtis Chapman & Larry Gatlin & The Gatlin Brothers
2 songs from the 9:30p-10p timeframe of my 04/14/2006 radio show….
#1
Steven Curtis Chapman is a Christian singer-songwriter who has also produced records, acted & written. This song was released as the 2nd single from his 1999 album ‘Speechless’; this single claimed #1 on 2 Christian charts that year. It also won the Pop-Contemporary Recorded Song Of The Year Dove Award. [Later, I used it as the opening song to my Holiday edition radio shows I hosted on Christmas Eve.]
#2
This trio of brothers (Larry, Steve & Rudy Gatlin) also worked as a gospel trio & hosted their own TV series in Abilene TX. This song debuted 08/23/1986, spent 22 weeks on the charts & peaked at #2. It was their 15th Top 10 & 13th Top 5 of 33 releases at that time. This song is perhaps my favorite of theirs; I was disappointed when they did not sing it during their appearance at Elgin IL’s Hemmens Auditorium in the early 2000s. The trio’s best-known song is 1979’s “All The Gold In California”, but their overall most-popular tune (in terms of charts) is 1983’s “Houston”.
