THEME = recreation: featuring Jerry Reed & Jeannie C Riley

2 songs from the 8:30p-9p timeframe of my 04/14/2006 radio show….

#1
Some songs just have a way of painting a picture. This is 1 of those for Atlanta GA native Jerry Reed, singer-songwriter-guitarist who also acted in several movies. This single debuted 07/10/1982 & spent 17 weeks on the country charts, 2 of those at #1; it crossed over & reached #57 on the Billboard Hot 100. His other chart toppers were 1971’s “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot” (5 weeks) & 1973’s “Lord, Mr. Ford”.

#2
Sometimes, singers strike gold on their 1st release. Such was the case for Stamford TX-native singer-guitarist Jeannie C Riley. This song debuted 08/24/1968 & spent 14 weeks on the country charts, 3 of those at #1; it also won the Country Female Vocal Grammy Award & the CMA Single Of The Year. It crossed over & also claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
