#1 ‘Beverly Hills Cop 2’
For this movie, “Shakedown” was written by Harold Faltermeyer, Keith Forsey & Bob Seger, who recorded the song for the film’s soundtrack. Released from the movie soundtrack 05/23/1987, the song claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 & Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Internationally, this single claimed #1 in Canada, reached #9 in Australia & notched at #33 in New Zealand. Despite having several other well-known songs, this is Seger’s only Billboard Hot 100 chart topper.

FYI: this film hit the theaters 3 days prior, 05/20/1987. It starred Eddie Murphy, Judge Reinhold, Dean Stockwell, Paul Reiser, Chris Rock, Hugh Hefner, Gilbert Gottfried & Robert Pastorelli.


#2 ‘Boomerang’
For this movie, “End Of The Road” was written by Kenneth Edmonds, LA Reid & Daryl Simmons. Released 06/30/1992 from the movie soundtrack, this Boyz II Men single claimed #1 for 13 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, breaking Elvis Presley’s previous record of 11 weeks with his version of “Hound Dog”. It also claimed #1 on the R&B chart, as well as 6 international charts, while reaching the Top 10 on additional 7 charts.

FYI: this film reached theaters 07/01/1992 & starred Eddie Murphy, Robin Givens, Halle Berry, David Alan Grier & Chris Rock.


#3 ‘Buster’
For this movie, “2 Hearts” was written by Lamont Dozier & Phil Collins, who performed it. Released 11/29/1988 from the film’s soundtrack, this single claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (2 weeks) & Adult Contemporary (5 weeks) charts in early 1989. It also claimed #1 in Canada, while reaching the Top 10 of 3 other charts, including #6 in England.

FYI: this movie is a British romantic-comedy-drama crime film based on characters & events from the Great Train Robbery (1963). Collins, who stars in the movie, advised Prince Charles & Princess Diana to cancel their attendance of the film’s premiere (09/15/1988) to avoid embarrassment due to the accusations the film glorified crime.
