“Cagney & Lacey” originally aired on CBS, 03/25/1982 to 05/16/1988, & starred Sharon Gless (left; as Christine Cagney; also: “Switch”, “The Rockford Files”, “The Trials Of Rosie O’Neill”, “Queer As Folk”, “Nip/Tuck” & “Burn Notice”) & Tyne Daly (as Mary Beth Lacey; also: “Christy” & “Judging Amy”) as police detectives in Manhattan. For 6 consecutive years, the lead actresses won the Lead Actress In A Drama Emmy (Daly 4, Gless 2), an unmatched winning streak. Loretta Swit (“M*A*S*H”) originated the role of Christine Cagney in the TV movie (October 1981) but was forced to decline the series roll; Meg Foster (many guest appearances on various TV series) took over the roll, spring 1982, but was replaced with Gless starting for the 1982-3 season.
