Have you seen this movie!? What catches your spying-eye radar?!
‘The Long, Hot Summer’ is a 1958 film inspired by several other writings: William Faulkner’s 1931 novella ‘Spotted Horses’, 1939 short story ‘Barn Burning’ & 1940 novel ‘The Hamlet’. Some characters were inspired by Tennessee Williams’ 1955 play “Cat On A Hot Tin Roof”. Filmed in Clinton LA, the cast included Paul Newman, Orson Welles & Actors Studio students (Joanne Woodward, Anthony Franciosa & Lee Remick). The movie received media attention due to the conflicts between Welles & director Martin Ritt. A TV series of the same name aired between 1965 & 1966, while a made-for-TV movie aired in 1985, featuring Jason Robards, Don Johnson & Cybill Shepherd.
