SPOTLIGHT = Jacky Ward (1 song) & Warrant (1 song)

A Groveton TX native & a band from Hollywood CA….

#1
Jacky Ward is a Groveton TX-native singer-guitarist. This song is arguably his signature tune; I certainly remember it many times when I was a kid. This single debuted 02/04/1978, spent 15 weeks on the charts & peaked at #3; it proved to be his only Top 5. However, he notched 4 other Top 10s during his career, mid 1972 to early 1988: 1977’s “Fools Fall In Love” (#9), 1979’s “Wisdom Of A Fool” (#8), 1980’s “Save Your Heart For Me” (#8) & 1980’s “That’s The Way A Cowboy Rocks & Rolls” (#7).

#2
Warrant formed in Hollywood CA in 1984 by Erik Turner, Adam Shore, Max Asher, Josh Lewis & Chris Vincent. This song, the 2nd release from the band’s debut album ‘Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich’, hit the airwaves 07/22/1989 & peaked in early 1990 at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 [2 weeks; kept from #1 by Milli Vanilli’s “Girl I’m Gonna Miss You”] & #3 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Elsewhere, this single peaked at #5 in Canada & #4 in Norway. The video was filmed during a concert at Sandstone Amphitheater (Kansas City KS) & other locations in that area. The band’s other 2 Top 10s: 1990’s “Cherry Pie” & 1991’s “I Saw Red”.
