Jerry Jeff Walker is an Oneonta NY-native singer-songwriter. This song is his best-known song, popularized by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (#9, 1971). Walker’s version was released in late 1968 & peaked in early 1969 at #77 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart; it reached #22 in Australia.

Jerry Wallace is a Guilford MO-native singer-guitarist. This song hit the airwaves 07/22/1972 & spent 17 weeks on the charts, 2 of those at #1; it was popularized due to play on TV’s “Night Gallery” (“The Tune In Dan’s Cafe” episode). This single was his 15th overall release (late 1965 to mid 1972), with none of the previous 14 cracking the Top 10 & only 2 cracking the Top 20. Of 19 more releases, late 1972 to late 1980, 3 reached the Top 10: 1972-3’s “Do You Know What It’s Like To Be Lonesome” (#2), 1973’s “Don’t Give Up On Me” (#3) & 1974’s “My Wife’s House” (#9). Known as “Mr. Smooth”, he died of heart failure 05/05/2008.
