CD SHOWCASE MEMORIES

SPOTLIGHT = Trick Pony (1 song) & KT Tunstall (1 song)

A trio from Nashville TN & a Scottish artist….

#1
Trick Pony is a trio formed in Nashville TN, consisting of Heidi Newfield, Keith Burns & Ira Dean. Their very brief career included 1 country Top 10: 2001’s “On A Night Like This” (#4). Of 8 total releases, only 3 others notched in the Top 20: 2000-1’s “Pour Me” (#12), 2002-3’s “On A Mission” (#19) & this song, my favorite of theirs, which debuted 01/19/2002, spent 24 weeks on the charts & peaked at #13. Only 1 other tune reached the Top 25: a cover of “It’s A Heartache” in 2005 (#22).

#2
KT Tunstall is a Scottish singer-songwriter-guitarist. This song, which she wrote, was released 02/21/2005 as the lead single from her debut album ‘Eye To The Telescope’. This single peaked at #20 on the Billboard Hot 100, #15 on the Pop Songs & #4 on the Adult Contemporary charts. Internationally, it peaked in the Top 30 in France (#23), Ireland (#16), Italy (#10), New Zealand (#20), Spain (#21) & England (#28). It was used as the opening theme song for CBC’s “Wild Roses” & in advertisements for “Pepper Dennis”, the last TV show to premier on The WB before the transition to CW. Other familiar tunes include 2005’s “Suddenly I See” & 2007’s “Hold On”.
