A band formed in TX & a band formed in Detroit MI….

#1
Ricochet formed in Texas by Perry Wright, Teddy Carr, Duane Bryant, Jeff Bryant, Eddie Kilgallon & Greg Cook. This song proved to be their only chart topper; it debuted 04/27/1996 as their 2nd single & spent 20 weeks on the charts, 2 of those at #1. The band’s only other 2 Top 10 tunes were 1995-6’s “What Do I Know” (#5; 1st release) & 1996’s “Love Is Stronger Than Pride (#9; 4th release). Of 14 other releases mid 1996 to mid 2000, only 2 reached the Top 35: 1997’s “Ease My Troubled Mind” (#20) & 1997’s “He Left A Lot To Be Desired” (#18).

#2
The Romantics formed in Detroit MI in 1976 by Wally Palmar, Mike Skill, Rich Cole & Jimmy Marinos. Their 1st show was 02/14/1977, opening for New MC5 at the My Fair Lady Club, Detroit MI. After releasing 2 single-only tunes (1977’s “Little White Lies” & 1978’s “Tell It To Carrie”), this song (written by Palmar, Skill & Marinos) was released as the 1st single from their debut self-titled album. Hitting the airwaves in late 1979, this song peaked in 1980 at #49 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Wide popularity has been achieved via use in various commercials, play at sporting events, & inclusion in movies (1994’s ‘Richie Rich’, 2004’s ’Shrek 2’, 2007’s ‘Surf’s Up’ & 2010’s ‘Marmaduke’). Their only Top 10: 1983’s “Talking In Your Sleep”, which reached the Top 3 of 3 United States charts.
