An Altoona PA-native artistic NFL player & a duo formed in 1989….

#1
Mike Reid is an Altoona PA-native singer-songwriter-pianist who was a NFL player with the Cincinnati Bengals, 1970-1974. His 1st entry on the country charts was a duet with Ronnie Milsap, 1988’s “Old Folks” (#2). This song was his next & 1st solo release; it debuted 11/24/1990 & spent 20 weeks on the charts, 2 of those at #1 in early 1991. It proved to be his only chart topper; of 6 more releases 1991 to late 1992, only 2 reached the Top 20: 1991’s “Till You Were Gone” (#17) & 1991’s “As Simple As That” (#14).

#2
The Rembrandts is a duo of Danny Wilde & Phil Solem, formed in 1989. Both had previously been together as members of Great Buildings (1981); as a duo, they are best known for “I’ll Be There For You”, the theme to TV’s “Friends”. Their only other widely successful tune is this song, their debut release from their debut self-titled album. This song was officially released in 1991 & peaked at #14 on the Billboard Hot 100 & #13 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Elsewhere, it peaked in the Top 10 in Austria (#9), France (#9) & Germany (#6).
