CD SHOWCASE MEMORIES

SPOTLIGHT = Puddle Of Mudd (1 song) & Raconteurs (1 song)

A band from Kansas City MO & a band from Detroit MI….

#1
Puddle Of Mudd formed in late 1991 in Kansas City MO by Wes Scantlin, Jimmy Allen, Sean Sammon & Kenny Burkitt; the name was inspired by practicing next to the Missouri River levy, which always invaded the band’s practice space (didn’t ruin equipment; they were on the 2nd floor). This song was released 10/30/2001 as the 2nd single from their debut album ‘Come Clean’; it is their best-known hit, having claimed #1 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks (10 weeks) & Modern Rock Tracks (9 weeks) charts in early 2002, while reaching #5 on the Billboard Hot 100, #9 in New Zealand & #8 in England. Other successful singles include 2002’s “She Hates Me”, 2003’s “Away From Me” & 2007’s “Psycho”.

#2
Raconteurs formed in Detroit MI (now based in Nashville TN) by Jack White (The White Stripes), Brendan Benson, Jack Lawrence & Patrick Keeler. The band is considered a ‘1-hit wonder’, thanks to this song, their debut single from their 1st album ‘Broken Boy Soldiers’. Released mid 2006, this single peaked that year at #54 on the Billboard Hot 100, #19 on the Adult Top 40 & #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks charts. Internationally, it reached #4 in Denmark & England.
