SPOTLIGHT = Pirates of the Mississippi (1 song) & Mike Posner (1 song)
A band from Montgomery AL & a Detroit MI native….
#1
Pirates of the Mississippi is a band from Montgomery AL featuring Bill McCorvey, Rich Alves, Pat Severs, Dean Townson & Jimmy Lowe. The group never notched a Top 10 during their brief early 1990s career, but this song struck a chord with many. This single hit the airwaves 03/16/1991, spent 20 weeks on the charts & peaked at #15. For as much as I remember hearing it on the radio back then, I’m surprised it didn’t notch higher; it should’ve. Of 9 total releases mid 1990 to late 1993, only 1 other reached the Top 25: 1992’s “Til I’m Holding You Again” (#22).
