Martika was born Marta Marrero in Whittier CA & entered mainstream show business with an uncredited role as 1 of the orphan girls in the 1982 movie ‘Annie’. This song, which she wrote, hit the airwaves 01/21/1989 as the 3rd single from her self-titled debut album; it claimed #1 for 2 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Internationally, this song reached the Top 10 of 13 other charts, including Australia (#5), Finland (#4), Germany (#5), Ireland (#3), New Zealand (#1), Norway (#2), Spain (#10), Sweden (#4), Switzerland (#3), England (#5) & 3 separate Canadian charts. It was used in an episode of CBS’ “Cold Case”. She had 2 other widely-successful tunes: 1989’s “I Feel The Earth Move” & 1991’s “Love…Thy Will Be Done”.

Johnny Mathis was born in Gilmer TX; known as a romantic singer, his repertoire includes jazz, pop, soul, R&B, soft rock, Broadway, blues & country. This song, written by Robert Allen & Al Stillman, is best known by Mathis’ version, which claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 (1957). Despite his popularity, this is 1 of 2 Billboard Hot 100 chart toppers; the other being 1978’s “Too Much, Too Little, Too Late”. Other familiar tunes include 1957’s “It’s Not For Me To Say”, 1962’s “Gina” & 1963’s “What Will My Mary Say”.
