Scene from the 1972 dramatic thriller, ‘Deliverance’, which starred Jon Voight, Burt Reynolds, Ned Beatty & Ronny Cox. The movie, considered a landmark picture, was based on the 1970 novel by James Dickey (in the movie as the Sheriff). Have you seen it!?
I actually have not seen it. Seems like one of those movies that I should see.
I haven’t seen it, either. A lot of movies I haven’t seen that I probably should!
Oh yeah, you guys need to see this movie! It’s kinda’ hard to watch in a couple of spots, but is just freakin’ awesome. It’s the source of a lot of things you’ve heard in pop-culture… “squeal like a piggie” and the “paddle faster, I hear banjos” saying are two, but I’d wager the popularity of the song “Dueling Banjos” is because of this movie.
After you’ve watched it, consider this… I have often camped very near to where much of this was filmed!
Luckily, I can say I’m familiar with the pop culture references … particularly the Dueling Banjos … just have never seen it. In fact, not even sure I’ve ever seen scenes from it…. Course, it is interesting how much pop culture derives from movies, TV shows, music … sometimes, many people have not seen or heard. Anyway, that’s cool you’ve camped close to where this movie was filmed!
