SPOTLIGHT = Jet (1 song) & Jars Of Clay (2 songs)

An Australian band & a band formed in Nashville TN….

#1
Jet is an Australian rock band formed in 2001 by Cameron Muncey, Mark Wilson, Nic Chester & Chris Chester. This song (my favorite of theirs) was released September 2003 from their album ‘Get Born’; it peaked at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100, #3 on the Modern Rock Tracks & #33 on the Mainstream Rock charts charts in 2004. This single also notched at #12 in Australia, #28 in England & #16 in New Zealand. Other familiar tunes include 2003’s “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” (popularized by movie & TV show usages), 2004’s “Cold Hard Bitch” & 2006’s “Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is”.

#2a
Jars Of Clay is a Christian rock band that formed in Nashville TN by Dan Haseltine, Charlie Lowell, Stephen Mason & Matthew Odmark; the members met at Greenville (IL) College. This song, released in 1995 as the 1st single from the debut self-titled album, is their breakthrough hit with airplay on contemporary Christian & alternative rock radio stations, 2 formats that rarely have shared songs. This single peaked in 1996 at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100, #16 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks & #12 on the Modern Rock Tracks charts. Aiding in this song’s popularity was inclusion in the closing credits of the 1998 film ‘Hard Rain’ & use in the 2002 movie ‘A Walk To Remember’.

#2b
After success with such songs as 1996’s “Liquid”, 1997’s “Crazy Times” & 1998’s “Fade To Grey”, this song (which the band wrote) was released in 1999 as the lead single of their 1999 studio album ‘If I Left The Zoo’ & peaked at #40 on the Billboard Adult Top 40, #1 on the Christian CHR & #3 on the Christian Rock charts. Later familiar tunes include 2000’s “Collide”, 2001’s “I Need You” & 2002’s “Revolution”.
