SPOTLIGHT = Evan & Jaron (1 song) & Eve 6 (2 songs)
Identical twin brothers from Georgia & a band from California….
#1
Identical twin brothers Evan & Jaron grew up in Tucker GA. While touring in 1996, including a performance at the Atlanta GA Olympics that summer, they were noticed by Jimmy Buffett, who signed them to Island Records. The duo has toured with various artists, including Sting, Heart, The Dixie Chicks & Maroon 5. This song, released October 2000 as the debut single from their self-titled album, peaked in early 2001 at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100, #27 on the Adult Contemporary, #4 on the Adult Top 40 & #9 on the Mainstream Top 40 charts. Elsewhere, it reached #9 in Italy. It was also included in the 2nd volume soundtrack of The WB’s “Dawson’s Creek”.
#2a
This band, formed in 1995 in La Crescenta CA, was originally known as Yakoo, then Eleventeen before settling on Eve 6. After disbanding in 2004, they returned in 2007 & reunited with all 3 original members in early 2011. Released 05/26/1998 as the debut single from their self-titled debut album, this song peaked at #28 on the Billboard Hot 100, #5 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks, #1 (3 separate times; was #2 behind Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” & Barenaked Ladies’ “1 Week”) on the Modern Rock Tracks, #16 on the Adult Top 40 & #11 on the Mainstream Top 40 charts. It also reached #36 in Canada.
#2b
After notching Top 10s on the Modern Rock Tracks chart with 1998’s “Leech” (#6) & 2000’s “Promise” (#3), this song was released 05/22/2001 as the 2nd single from their 2nd album ‘Horrorscope’. It peaked that year at #30 on the Billboard Hot 100, #7 on the Adult Top 40 & #33 on the Modern Rock Tracks charts. Their last Top 10 on any chart was 2003’s “Think Twice” (#9, Modern Rock Tracks chart).
Horrorscope is a great album. At Least We’re Dreaming off of It’s All in Your Head is one of my favorite Eve6 songs.
