SPOTLIGHT = George Ducas (1 song) & Dave Dudley (1 song)
A ‘1-hit wonder’ & a truck driving song leader….
#1
George Ducas, born in Texas City TX, is a singer-songwriter-guitarist who perhaps is underrated a bit. During his brief mid-1990s career, he only notched 1 Top 10; this song debuted 12/10/1994, spent 20 weeks on the charts & peaked at #9 in early 1995. As much as I remember hearing it on the radio back then, would’ve thought it notched higher. None of his other 5 releases reached the Top 30, with only 1 reaching the Top 50: 1994’s “Teardrops” (#38).

Dave Dudley, born in Spencer WI, is a singer-songwriter-guitarist who worked as a DJ on several radio stations: WTWT (Wausau WI), KBOK (Waterloo IA), KCHA (Charles City ID) & KEVE (Minneapolis MN). Known as the pioneer of “truck driving” songs, this single, his 3rd overall release, hit the airwaves 06/01/1963 & spent 21 weeks on the country charts, 2 of those at #2. This song crossed over & reached #32 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other Top 10 tunes of his include 1965’s “Truck Drivin’ Son-Of-A-Gun” (#3, 3 weeks), 1965-6’s “What We’re Fighting For” (#4), 1970’s “The Pool Shark” (#1) & 1971’s “Fly Away Again” (#8).
