This song, the 1st release from his 2nd album ‘Bobby Vinton Sings The Big Ones’, was written by Gloria Shayne Baker & Noel Regney based on the popular nursery rhyme. The single peaked at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 & #4 on the Adult Contemporary charts in 1962. It was preceded by his debut release, 1962’s “Roses Are Red”, which claimed #1 on both charts.

This song, composed by Burt Bacharach with Hal David’s lyrics, was 1st recorded by this artist; the single was released May 1963 as the debut single from his 5th album ‘Blue On Blue’. It returned him to the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #3 on that chart. It was his 6th straight Top 10 on the Adult Contemporary chart, peaking at #2.

Released in 1963, the song claimed #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 & Adult Contemporary charts, his 2nd song to do that, behind 1962’s “Roses Are Red”. His next release, 1964’s “There! I’ve Said It Again” triplicated that feat.

This single claimed #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 & reached #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart, his 12th straight Top 10 on that chart, preceded in 1964 by “Tell Me Why” (#3) & “Clinging Vine” (#2). That string stretched to 14 straight with 1965’s “Long Lonely Nights” (#5) & 1965’s “L-O-N-E-L-Y” (#7). Later familiar tunes include 1967’s “Please Love Me Forever”, 1968’s “I Love How You Love Me” & 1974’s “My Melody Of Love”.
