This Windsor, Ontario, Canada-native singer-songwriter was born Eileen Regina Edwards; she adopted the name Shania, which means “I’m on my way” in the Ojibwa Indian language. She won the 1999 CMA Entertainer Of The Year award.

After 2 releases in 1993 both peaked at #55, she released this song 05/13/1995. It became her breakthrough hit, spending 20 weeks on the country charts, 2 of those at #1. The single crossed over & reached #31 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song also inspired a parody, “Any Gal Of Mine”, by Gino Ruberto, then working at KEEY-FM (Minneapolis MN).
