ARTIST SPOTLIGHT = Rick Trevino (3 songs)

This Austin TX-native singer-songwriter-guitarist had a brief career in the mid 1990s. Perhaps an underrated singer or an artist that attempted a career at the wrong time, he only notched 1 #1 tune.

#1
This song debuted 06/04/1994, spent 20 weeks on the charts & peaked at #3. It was his 1st Top 10, after 2 prior releases failed to reach the Top 30: 1993’s “Just Enough Rope” (#44) & 1994’s “Honky Tonk Crowd” (#35). The follow-up single to this song was 1994-5’s “Doctor Time”, which peaked at #5, his 2nd straight Top 10.

#2
After his 1st release in 1995 failed to reach the Top 40 (“Looking For The Light”), he released this song 05/06/1995; it spent 20 weeks on the charts & peaked at #6, his 3rd Top 10. Unfortunately, it was his only Top 10 in 1995; the follow-up release, “Save This 1 For Me”, peaked at #45.

#3
Debuting 10/26/1996, this song spent 22 weeks on the charts & claimed #1 in early 1997. It proved to be his only chart topper, tho it was the 2nd of 3 straight Top 10s, preceded by 1996’s “Learning As You Go” (#2, 2 weeks) & followed by 1997’s “I Only Get This Way With You” (#7). He released 4 more tunes (1997, 1998, 2003 & 2007), none of which cracked the Top 40.
