This band was formed in Chicago in 1978 by Jim Peterik.

#1
After only 1 of 4 releases (1980-2) reached the Top 40 (1981’s “Poor Man’s Son”, #33), this song hit the airwaves 05/29/1982 & became the band’s 1st & only Billboard Hot 100 chart topper. The song was written at the request of Sylvester Stallone to be the theme song of the movie ‘Rocky III’. The song later was the title song to the movie of the same name. In 1982, the song also claimed #1 in 8 other countries: Australia, Canada, Finland, Japan, Norway, S Africa & England.

#2
After 1982’s smash #1 single, the band didn’t have another Top 10 until 1985’s “High On You”, despite 6 releases (mid 1982 to 1984). Of those 6 releases, only 2 reached the Top 40: 1982’s “American Heartbeat” (#17) & 1984’s “I Can’t Hold Back” (#13). Following “High On You”, this song was released in 1985 & became the band’s 2nd Top 5, peaking at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The single also spent 4 weeks atop the Adult Contemporary chart, their only #1 there.

#3
After 1985’s “1st Night” stalled at #53 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the band released this song from the ‘Rocky IV’ soundtrack, 11/01/1985. The single peaked at #2 (2 weeks) on the Billboard Hot 100 chart; elsewhere, it reached the Top 10 of 9 other charts, including Austria (#6), France (#2), Germany (#6), Ireland (#2), Sweden (#5), Switzerland (#1) & England (#5). The band’s last Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 was 1986’s “Is This Love” (#9). None of their last 4 releases cracked the Top 40.
