While success in his native England came in the form of such tunes as 1967’s “Matthew & Son” & 1970’s “Lady D’Arbanville”, Stevens’ 1st mainstream entry into the United States was this song, which he wrote. Released September 1970 from his 4th album ‘Tea For The Tillerman’, the song reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 & #21 on the Adult Contemporary charts. It reached #14 in Canada & has been covered by many artists since.
